=============================
Xander is a lot of personality in a small package. He's a lap baby and loves nothing better than to cuddle. He is approximately 1.5 years old and weighs 3 lbs, he will get no bigger. He is crate-trained and does well in the house as long as he is kept on a regular potty schedule. He is currently in foster care, fed 2x a day a grain free dog food.

He walks good on-leash, is easy to bathe, and is pretty content most of the time. He does come off a bit shy or reserved when he first meets people but once he figures out you're "a friendly", he does fine. He gets along with other dogs, cat friendly (see video).

Seeking a loving and responsible home environment that has previous dog-parenting experience. You should understand that even though Xander is a little cutie pie, he's still a dog and he needs boundaries set just like larger dogs do.

He is current on all of his vaccines, dewormed, neutered, current on flea/tick prevention, micro-chipped, he tested heartworm positive and will come with one year of heartworm prevention as part of his adoption, and just had a complete dental done. Due to his activity level and size, it was decided to go with "soft heartworm treatment" rather than the hard treatment.

He is used to being indoors and his new family should be willing to maintain him as such. You should have prior experience being a pet parent, a realistic understanding of the cost associated with caring for a furry family member, and financial ability to do so.

Please ensure that you do your research on the Chihuahua breed, they are tiny and generally pretty adorable, but if not handled correctly their "cuteness" can become an issue for folks who think small dogs should be overindulged and result in a "small dog" complex.

His adoption fee is $150, veterinary records will be supplied as part of his adoption. If you are seriously interested in adoption, please complete an application by going here: http://tomballsos.rescuegroups.org/forms/form_humanverify?formid=2481.

No meetings will take place without a completed application. If you have any questions, email his foster at rileyw1972-houston@yahoo.com.
